Oil Painting
It has long been considered the classic painting medium.

I love painting with oils.  They are easy to use and they stay where you put them.  I like the ease of mixing colors, and if I don’t like a passage I can wipe it off and start over, which makes it easy to correct mistakes.

One of my favorite instructors (Richard McKinley) said:  “Become friends with your paints.” Meaning:  Have a limited palette and play with the colors, mixing them until you know what to expect.

I work with a limited palette, both in my studio and on location.

I have used oils to paint landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.  It is my favorite medium, because I love the wonderful feeling I get when I play with rich, juicy, buttery, delicious colors.
